Podcasting
Podcasts are an excellent resource for enhancing learning in the classroom, the picture above shows a sample that the BBC website has available at the moment. They can be used to encourage children to discuss and evaluate ideas and opinions put forward by others, it is also a useful tool to get children to think about how language is used to convey ideas without the distraction video etc.
Sound Clips
Within my GPP classroom we used sound clips to enhance learning especially within our History topic of Mary Seacole, BBC clips is an excellent resource for this. Below is a link to one of the audio clips that we used.
Mary Seacole: The Crimean War
This clip was very effective for children to create an image in their mind of what the Crimean war was like and formed an excellent basis for discussion and further group work.

SoundCloud
SoundCloud is a fabulous resource that I have not yet had the oppertunity to use in the classroom but intend to use during FPP at the first opportunity. This online resource can be used to listen to music and sound clips created by others, and can also be used to upload clips created within the class. The University based Drama session showed how some children from her school had uploaded clips of them making woodland sounds for a drama piece using only their voices. It could also be used to upload pieces of music made using applications such as GarageBand.
When using SoundCloud within the classroom children must be made aware of how and where they can safely upload and download things from the Internet.
